Developed a mobile solution using Microsoft .NET technologies to meet the needs of field service personnel of a large city in south east United States . This project had several phases, they were: Understanding the specific needs of the inspections staff that belonged to different trades of work. Meeting with field service personnel and driving out to the field with them to study their daily activities. Architecture was based on open web service standards and XML. Using advanced GUI features and simple interfaces, field personnel can use the application with minimal effort. The application allows inspectors to sort their daily route and plan their work. Using pre-defined comments, inspectors have an error free and time saving mechanism to reject inspections. The software uses a store and forward mechanism that allows inspectors to work in both online and offline modes. Synchronization with the server is automatic or can be requested at anytime by the inspector. The software also uses encryption and 128 bit authentication for security.
